this is the cover of the copy I read. the one Husband has had since he read it in middle school.
seriously, this was the first time I ever read it. I know, I know. Where was I in middle school? I was busy reading every Nancy Drew book and then every Fear Street book by R.L. Stine that I could get my grubby little hands on. true story.I've never been much on fantasy books other than Star Wars, Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings and maybe a handful of other children's stories.
I liked it. I don't know how I wouldn't felt about it if I did read it in middle school ... I doubt I would've ever identified with Meg, the main character. She and I (back then) don't seem very similar.
It was a nice 'love conquers all' type of message.
And crazy old man in a little boy's body Charles Wallace kept blowing my mind.
As did late arrival Calvin.
It was a good fast read. I finished it in about 3 nights just reading before bed.

I have always LOVED that book! I recently re-read it for the first time in years and definately think I get more out of it now than I did as a child.
