When Book Jail Fails ...

Book Jail only works when I actually keep the kids (or actually, Son) out of it.

electric fence, anyone? ;-)

Lauren used to do this with my shelf that has cookbooks on it when she was crawling age. For some reason, she sort of "outgrew" her interest for pulling every.single.book off the shelf. Maybe it just lost it's appeal? Also, I used to make her help me pick them all up when she was old enough to do so. (even though I would come back later and re-arrange them how I wanted them!) But the electric fence idea would have been much more effective....why didn't I think of that?! :)

I was so glad when Ry outgrew it. Now Finn is in the stage that if I take my eyes off him for a second, he's "reading books" and he gets to put them all back and then we go choose one of HIS books to read. sigh. it's exhausting. But I guess I'm glad he's grabbing books instead of trying for knives or a hot stove.

When I worked in real estate we came across a house that had an invisible fence wire run in the house so that there were boundaries for the dog. The dog wore a collar. Now I am sure it is probably child abuse even at its lowest setting but it is an idea. You could make Finn a scarf to cover his collar. =)
