dead. it's all dead

the seedlings that is. seriously. There's no picture because, really, do you want to look at a picture of dead plants? I don't even want to look at them in real life, much less a picture of them.

sigh.

So, I haven't really decided what this means for the garden yet. I have no Jersey Giant seeds left. I have melon, cucumber and Juliets. But I'm a little sick of trying again.

When I've worked so hard on these heirloom seeds, I don't want to just give up and but mass produced plants at walmart or lowes. ugh, esp because what I want these tomatoes for is canning. And I REALLY wanted them to be Jersey Giants and Juliets.

I have little hope that I can find a [local] nursery where I can buy heirlooms suitable for my needs.

I'm disappointed in my black thumb.

I promise my next garden post won't be a downer. I'll think of something.

SO sorry! I know you would prefer to use a local nursery, but, have you called Southern Homes & Gardens in Montgomery? They might have what you are looking for....

Erin, at this point I can consider Montgomery "local!" I'll look them up and give them a call to see what they have. thanks!

My Rosemary seeds did not do squat. My lettuce and basil are doing ok so far.

Look in Southern Living and contact the garden writer -he might be able to tell you where you can get what you want. Or put an ad on Craigslist. I see heirloom stuff on there from time to time.

Oh, Christy! This makes me sad for you. :( I so enjoy your gardening posts, because I admire your courageousness to try to give your family homegrown veggies. Don't give up; I'm sure you'll think of something!

If it makes you feel better about buying plants at Wal-Mart, Bonnie Plant Farm is actually in Union Springs. Technically, it is a local company.

Sadness! :-( I hope you're able to find some seeds! I think there is a garden-y place by the Montgomery Farmer's market too...
